Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera Review

Canon EOS 70D 20.2 MP Digital SLR Camera with Dual Pixel CMOS AF Full HD 1080p VideoWhen digital SLRs were first introduced, Canon led the pack where CMOS image-sensor technology was concerned. Every single time a new EOS model was introduced, it was certain to come with better resolution and higher ISO range. In less than a decade, Canon had moved from 3MP to 18MP and from ISO 1600 to ISO 12800.

Since that time, however, the APS-C cameras from the company were variants with the same fundamental sensor design.  This was excellent but hardly mind-boggling.  Then Canon came up with its Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera.

This is Canon’s middle range SLR for photography enthusiasts. When you look at it initially, it strikes you as a fine upgrading of the EOS 60D. How does the camera strike most of the people who have used it?

Photo quality

The Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera ensures quality images with high resolution and great low light sensitivity through the power-combination of its 20.2 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and DIGIC 5+ image processor. Images are finely detailed with immense clarity, natural range of tones and colours and negligible noise even in situations where light is uncooperative.

Lens Quality

The camera comes with the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens providing a 35 mm equivalent focal-length range of 28.8-216mm. This lens shows great versatility – allowing wide angle shoots, as well as telephoto length ones, for both still-image and movie recordings.

It has a built-in system for stabilizing optical images, minimizing the manifestation of camera shake. Possibility of colour aberrations and lens flare are reduced, making for sharper contrasts and vivid images.

Video Quality

The innovative Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera is ideal for producing videos. With advancements inherent in its Dual Pixel CMOS-AF innovations, you have the AF required for video production.  You get the finest AF, excellent and dependable, simply by touching the screen; no need for direct manual focusing or for costly focus-pullers.  You get premium high definition footages without AF problems. You also have a couple of video-compression modes, allowing you the choice of longer recording or better quality.

Drawbacks

A 70d canon review indicates that the microphones that the camera is fitted with can do with some improvement.  Audio is weak, although better during focusing.  Generally, the sound seems to lack depth and body.
It is also disappointing to discover that the camera does not come with a head phone jack.
Another drawback is that in video mode, you do not have access to fundamental shooting info.

Benefits/SumCanon EOS 70D Digital SLR Camera with 18-135mm STM Lensmary

Its strong points are clear. It carries many of the finest features of the company’s line-up of SLRs. It has the auto-focus sensor of the EOS 7D, the excellently articulated touch screen of the EOS 700D (RebelT5i), as well as the incorporated facility for Wi-Fi compatibility of the EOS 6D.

The inside features of the Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera, however, is where it is at. An increasing number of photographers regard the innovative design and capabilities of its sensor as nothing less than ground-breaking.

It provides 20.2 MP resolution.  But its employment of a Dual Pixel CMOS-AF allows it to split every distinct pixel into a couple of photo-diodes that can be read individually and separately. This renders all of them fundamentally ready for phase-detection auto focus in live-view and movie-mode.

Those who have used the camera are impressed by its reliability and smooth and precise autofocus.  The camera produces superior images, showing impressive clarity and well-defined colours.  Considering all its strengths, it is rather surprising that this camera comes with a relatively low price tag compared with other cameras comparable to it.
